This project was great because it helped me grow a lot and it was fun to do. I have always been interested in making music and I do so frequently but I have never actually written lyrics so this allowed me to begin to grasp the process of writing lyrics. One thing that I really struggled with was finding a way to connect all the lyrics together and tell a story through the lyrics to show a deeper meaning. To me this is really important because I love finding the meaning of connected lyrics in other songs but it was very challenging to accomplish. Another challenge I ran into was rhyming lines together when the rhyme wasn’t completely apparent. For example one of the lines that I was trying to rhyme with was "I’m jocking on you" however in the song it is pronounced more like "I’m jocking on yuh" which made it more complicated to rhyme. One thing that I would change in the project is that I frequently used words with the same rhyme endings as the actual song. I wish I used different rhyme endings so that I could have made my song more unique from the original. I am most proud of the fact that I actually wrote an entire verse and chorus for this song which is something that I have never been able to do before. I will definitely use the skills I learned from this project in future songs that I make with writing lyrics and it also made me more comfortable with pro tools which I will almost definitely use in the future. This project definitely made me appreciate the lyrics in many songs more and made me realize how difficult it is to write lyrics that both make sense and sound good. Overall this project was a really fun and effective way of learning the process of writing lyrics.
